Mad Planets, formed in Stony Brook, Long Island and active from 1994 to 1998, consisted of Tara Emelye Needham, Erik Robinson, and John Kapp. Their sound blends grungy 90s influences with Britpop-inspired melodies, all carried by a gentle touch of emo and twee that still gives their songs a familiar warmth. For me, this record became my personal favorite. always playing, always present.

For many indie-pop fans, the band holds a special place. interest resurfaced after Julie mentioned Mad Planets as an important influence, bringing their name back into the conversation. It’s great to see longtime listeners and newcomers coming together now. The music ultimately says everything on its own – listen to Mad Planets and experience this release as it arrives on cassette for the first time.
